Garry Parsons
Garry's charcoal bird drawings were initially inspired from a concern for the depleting numbers of resident birds in the UK, Particularly those that are supposedly most common and familiar to us. Considering a world without garden birds, the drawings offer a record of their existance, reminiscent of the rare drawings and prints of flightless birds and otrher bird species, which became extinct in the 1700's. Garry studied Fine Art (painting) at Canterbury and then Sequential Design at the University of Brighton under Georege Hardy and John Vernon-Lord. Garry is an acclaimed illustrator of children's books but returns to his fine art grounding through charcoal, painting and works on paper and print. "The bird drawings are an admiration of our most common garden visitors and a recognition of their strength and dignity in a resource scarce environment" |
